Bringing it Back to the Core

Bringing it Back to the Core

The core focus of your business is your reference tool & filter for all decision making and planning going forward. It is very easy to get side tracked and diverted in the hustle and bustle of the day to day running of a business. We can get easily distracted by opportunities which, in the long run, are not best suited to us or our business ethos. For this reason it is so important to have a clear focus on what is important to you and your business.

CORE FOCUS AS A FILTER TOOL

Business Core Focus
Every decision needs to be pulled back to the reference point – the purpose of your business. Your core focus feeds into setting goals, long and short term – your vision. It is the common thread to your business which must be consistent in all your branding & messaging, on & off line, public and private. It is a constant reflection as to who you are and what your business stands for. It also determines the people and organisations best suited to you and who you should partner with as well as the team you want to build around you.
Core Focus

So here are a couple of questions to get you started on clarifying the core focus of your business..

Why does your business exist?
What attracted you to the idea in the first place?
What excited you?
What is the main purpose of your business – would it matter if it didn’t exist?
What is your offering?
What value do you bring to the market?

Getting the answers to these questions can take time. Don’t be tempted to rush this process and expect a clear answer in half an hour… Often it takes a couple of weeks to really get it clear. Getting an objective perspective on this is good idea – but be selective as to who you ask. It really need to be from an objective stance.

The Outcome
Once you go through this process you will have a reference focal point for all decisions going forward. It is a baseline for your consistent and successful growth.
